Life as a Tour Bus Driver in Norway
- It's like waking up in a painting every day

Every summer, millions of travelers come to Norway to experience the fjords, mountains, and the midnight sun. For us at Tide, that means one thing: we need more skilled and adventurous drivers who want to help create good travel experiences.

With us, you get the freedom to explore Norway, meet people from all over the world, and use your professional skills where they are truly valued. The season runs from April to September, and we have room for many new colleagues – both from Norway and abroad.

So what is it really like to drive a tour bus in Norway during summer? What can you expect along the road – and what does it take to enjoy the job? We spoke with three of our experienced tour drivers – Bjarte, Caroline, and Louis – and the answer is clear: this is a job for people who enjoy driving, working with people, and being surrounded by beautiful nature.

Every day brings something new

Louis is from Portugal and has been driving tour buses in Norway for three years. With several high seasons behind him, he smiles when we ask what makes the job so special: - Norway in summer is beautiful. It feels like waking up inside a painting every day. For me, every day is wonderful. And every day you discover something new – even in places you already know.

At the same time, you meet travelers from all over the world who are excited to experience Norway – and who truly appreciate the sense of safety you provide behind the wheel. Caroline highlights how varied the workdays are. Every day is different, and you meet new people and cultures every day.

- You have to be social, says Bjarte. You are often the first person they meet. Many are visiting a new country for the first time, and you’re the one who helps them feel safe.

Caroline adds that a positive attitude and patience are essential. - There will be situations that require calmness. Maybe the weather changes, maybe plans need to be adjusted, or maybe someone needs a bit of extra help. The most important thing is to meet people with a smile and keep a cool head.

You’ll see more of Norway than most people ever do

Bjarte, Caroline and Louis appreciate the flexibility that comes with the job. The workdays can be long, but they also allow for breaks in places many people only dream of visiting. As a tour bus driver, you see more of Norway than most Norwegians ever will – and you get paid to do it. A town you drove through yesterday can feel completely different today.

We asked our drivers what they would say to someone considering applying. - Just go for it, says Caroline. - Every day is different, and you'll get fantastic colleagues.

Louis adds: - If you’re thinking about it – do it. It’s an adventure.
