Day 1: Bergen - Voss
Arriving in Bergen and greeted by a tour leader and coach we go directly to Voss for check-in at the traditional Fleischers Hotel. The hotel dates from 1889 and oozes of comfort and hospitality. In Voss you are greeted by snowy mountain tops, valleys and forests, rivers, waterfalls and lakes. Voss is located in the heart of Fjord Norway, between the famous fjords Sognefjorden and Hardangerfjorden. We enjoy dinner at the charming Store Ringheim Hotel in Voss.
Day 2: Voss - Flåm
Voss is one of the most popular destinations for activities and adventure in Norway. We will hit the river for some soft adventure white-river rafting! For about 4 hours we will experience the crystal clear water in the river before lunch is served outdoors. We continue to Flåm for check-in at Fretheim Hotel for two nights. The hotel, built in Swiss chalet style at the end of the 19th century, boasts mountain and fjord views and magnificent nature. We will enjoy a stroll around Flåm, located on the banks of the Sognefjord. Flåm is one of the biggest Cruise ports in Norway, and most famous for the Flåmsbana railway that takes you from the fjord up to the Hardangervidda mountain plateau.
Day 3: Flåm
Our coach takes us up to the Stegastein view point. Stegastein is situated 640 metres above sea level and offers an amazing view over the Aurlandsfjord. We go for a short hike in the area. In the afternoon we go by rib boat on the Nærøyfjorden, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage site and chosen as one of the world’s most beautiful destinations several times running! We will make a stop in the charming village of Undredal, with a population of 80 people and 300 goats and famous for their locally-produced goat cheese. We will enjoy a presentation about the traditional cheese-making and get to taste the tasty local products. Undredal is also known to have Scandinavia´s smallest stave church, built in 1147 and seating just 40. We return to Flåm for dinner.
Day 4: Flåm - Balestrand
We start the day with The Flåmsbana Railway, one of the world’s most spectacular train journeys. Flåmsbana is one of the steepest railway lines in the world, offering panoramic views over some of the most magnificent scenery Norway’s fjord landscape has to offer from sea level to 865 m above.
Back in Flåm we continue to Balestrand by bus. Balestrand is perhaps the best-known landmark on the Sognefjord, the world’s longest fjord. We check-in at Kviknes Hotel, a modern hotel with soul and atmosphere which has a tradition of hospitality stretching back to 1752. Upon arrival our hosts will share the exciting history of the building – a stay at Kviknes is like stepping into a Norwegian fairytale. We go for a cultural walk in the picturesque village where renowned artists like Hans Gude have captivated the scenery. We explore the village and the local Cider House, situated in idyllic surroundings in an orchard. We will learn about the local cider production and of course get a taste of the locally produced cider.
Day 5: Balestrand - Lom
We start early from Balestrand, by coach along the Sognefjord that ends in the little village Skjolden and up to the Sognefjell mountain and the highest mountain pass road in Northern Europe. Here you will find snow even in the summer! We will explore the area by Sognefjellshytta before we continue to Lom for check-in at the charming, timber-built Fossheim Hotel, dating back to 1897 and now run by the fourth generation of the same family.
Day 6: Lom - Geirangerfjord - Sandane
Our round-trip continues to the famous small village Geiranger, situated in the end of the Geirangerfjord. It is a fairytale landscape with its majestic mountains, wild and beautiful waterfalls, lush green vegetation and the deep, blue fjord. In Geiranger we will visit Vesterås Farm for a hike to the nearby waterfall that allows you to walk behind the curtain of cascading water. From Geiranger we continue to Stryn and to Sandane for check-in at Gloppen Hotel. The hotel is famous and award-winning for its delicious menus based on local food.
Day 7: Sandane - Bergen
On the way to Bergen, lunch is enjoyed at the Åmot Opera Farm - one of the finest exclusive country house in the heart of the fjord region. Here deer graze on the open land surrounding the farm courtyard and herbs are picked straight from the garden. We continue to Bergen by coach, crossing the Sognefjord by ferry, and will arrive in the afternoon for check-in at Grand Hotel Terminus for two nights.
Grand Hotel Terminus is a classic yet modern hotel, located in peaceful surroundings in the heart of Bergen. It is widely known for its cuisine, its art, and the Grand Whiskybar in an atmospheric setting with a ceiling almost six metres high.
Day 8: Bergen
In Bergen the ”Walk like a Norwegian” –tour in Mount Fløien will offer a fantastic view of the city. On the walk, we learn about the local history, the trolls, the Norwegian fairytales and Norwegian`s love of walking.
A wonderful lunch is enjoyed at Fløien Folkerestaurant, 320 metres above sea level. The panoramic views from the top of Fløyen are breathtaking, covering the entire city, the bay, islands, mountains and the North Sea in the far distance. Dinner will be enjoyed at Bryggen Tracteursted in the historical centre of Bergen. The building dates back to 1708 and is located in the middle of Bryggen wharf, an internationally renowned attraction and listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Day 9: Farewell and home bound
Departure from Bergen airport or extend the stay individually.
